CENTERVILLE – Philip Robert Gaudette Sr., 84, resident of Centerville, died Sunday, November 17, 2017, at the Sunrise Care Center in Jonesport after a lengthy illness. Philip was born October 22, 1933, in Centerville, and was the son of the late Angus and Julia (Foster) Gaudette.
After graduating from Columbia Falls high school in ’52, he served 2 years in the Army, mostly in Germany. Philip married Mary Ellen Cirone on November 22, 1956. They moved to Connecticut and raised 4 children. He was employed for 32 years as an aircraft mechanic for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Corporation until retiring. In 1987 the family moved back to Centerville. He was a former member of the Harrington VFW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Philip is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Ellen Gaudette; son, Philip Jr. and his wife, Maria; three daughters, Teresa Tacinelli and her friend, Dan Murphy, Betty Fogg and her husband, Robert, and Annette Harris and her husband, Frank; one brother, Angus Gaudette and his wife, Marjorie; four sisters, Phyllis Breen and her husband, Donald, Ann Snowdeal and her husband, Jack, Linda Smith, and Elaine York; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend-Ricky Elliott. Philip was predeceased by both of his parents; his grandson, Philip III; two brothers, Paul and Vernon; and a nephew, Kevin.
Military graveside services for Mr. Gaudette will be announced by the family in the spring. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Sunrise Care and Hospice for all of their kindness and wonderful care they have provided for Philip.
