BLUE HILL- Doris Hooper of Blue Hill passed away peacefully on December 17, 2017 at the age of 88. Born in Wiesbaden, Germany. She was the daughter of Gutberlet and George Ober. She made her life in Blue Hill, where she raised her family with her late husband, Stanley Hooper.
In her life, she worked at the Woolen Mill in Ellsworth and managed the laundry service at the Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. She was an active member of the Blue Hill Congregational Church and local chapter of the Red Hats. She was well known for her knitting skills, winning many blue ribbons at the Blue Hill Fair and was the major contributor to the mitten trees at the hospital and church. Her raspberry patch in her garden provided fresh fruit for anyone who came to visit. She loved when the entire family gathered to feast on Stanley’s lobster catch. She and Stanley were skilled Christmas wreath makers and made sure their children carried on the annual tradition. Her family includes her sons- Allen and the late Sherry Hooper, Windham and Stanley David and wife, Nancy Hooper, Blue Hill and her daughters- Jane and husband, Floyd Ober, Trenton and Katherine and the late William Sylvia, Plymouth MA. She had 7 grandchildren-Allysha and the late Melissa Hooper, Jaime Hooper and Jennifer Farren, Jock Ober and William and Lauren Sylvia. She also lived to meet 2 great grandchildren- Khloe Farren and Josie Sylvia. Memorial service to celebrate her life will be held in the spring.
