Joseph Scott Meserve, 42, of Jonesport, died at 6:00 PM, Saturday, March 24, 2018, at home in Jonesport, Maine. Joseph was born April 10,1975, in Attleboro, Massachusetts, to the late Janet Mable Meserve. He was married to Samantha Hurlbert Meserve on August 18,2012, and they share two sons that were the light of Joe’s life, Damion and Kaiyden Meserve.

Joseph was a long time resident of Washington County, Maine. He graduated in 1994 from Narraguagus High School in Harrington, Maine. Joseph worked various jobs, from sternman where he loved being on the water, installing sheet rock, and various side jobs which helped him provide for his family. Joseph’s smile had the ability to light up a room, and instantly his energy would reel you in. The love he had for his two boys and his wife was his reason for wanting to better his life. Damion and Kaiyden were the best thing that had happened to him, anytime spent with them at his side was his most precious moments.The love he had for them was beyond compare. Joseph absolutely loved being a father and a supporting husband. Joseph also enjoyed music, tattoo art, and being with his friends.

Also surviving are his grandmother Mable Meserve of North Attleboro, Massachusetts; a brother, Stefo Dore of Iowa; his step father, Stefo Dore residing in Perry, Maine; Scott Meserve of Danvers, Massachusetts; Matt Meserve and his significant other, Ellen Flynn, of North Attleboro, Massachusetts; an aunt, Nadine Donovan of Haverhill, Massachusetts; his mother-in-law, Susan Weaver and her significant other, Gary Dill, of Machias, Maine; brother-in-laws, Arthur Rockwell Jr. and his wifeTiffany of Jonesport; Brandon Weaver of Machias, Maine; Brent and Brittney Hallissey of Machias; sister-in-laws, Kaitlin Lapointe of Machias; and Kayla Backman of New Hampshire; his wife’s grandfather, Napoleon Beal of Jonesport, Maine; Samantha’s aunt, Heather Anderson and her husband Ian, residing in Jonesboro, Maine; ..... extended and additional family would also include, his "DAD", Roger W Mathews Jr. and his wife, Betty Mathews of Cherryfield; his "mom" Barbara J. Reitano and her husband Philip Reitano of Austin, TX; his "sister" Christa Clarkson and her husband Gary Clarkson of Austin, Texas; a "brother" Roger W Mathews III and his wife Jenni L. Farley Mathews; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins that loved Joe.

Joseph’s mother, Janet Mable Meserve, and his aunt JoAnn Meserve Fera, Samantha’s grandmother who adored Joe, Bernedette Beal, a great grandmother to Samantha, Lucielle Backman, a grandfather to Samantha Hugh Hurlbert, preceded him in death.

He has many friends that he would want made mention of for their support, love and lasting friendship over the years. Wayde and his wife Toni Carter of Machias, Dick Sprague of Milbridge, Denise Beam of Milbridge, Larry Faulkinham of Jonesport, Rocky and Carmen Alley of Jonesport, Jamie Alley of Beals Island, Galend Alley of Beals Island, Vestin Drisko of Beals, Geddy Kohler of Massachusetts, and a very special family, the Strout family of Harrington, Maine, especially his good friend Scott Strout.

Joseph’s celebration of life will be at the Community of Christ Church, 135 Main Street, Jonesport, Maine, on Sunday, April 8th, 2018 at 3:00 pm. There will be no burial as it was Joseph’s wishes to opt for cremation, but there will be a gathering directly following service. Pastor Aaron Dudley and Pastor Paul Trovarello will be officiating his Celebration of Life.

    Joe my friend life is short and it is hard. Ur life started hard and ended hard but I no in between my friend u found joy and family and Ur love sam and got to be a parent so for as short as it was u did live the way that made u happiest and was felt by so many over Ur short but sweet life. I hope some how we see each other again u will never be forgotton…
