Michael Townsend, of East Machias, Maine passed unexpectedly Friday, April 13th, 2018. He is predeceased by Great Grandparents, Lewis Gatcomb Sr. (Pupa), Carole and Weldy Colbeth, Richard Look Sr., George Townsend I, and a Great Uncle Paul Bridges.
Michael is survived by his mothers, Brandis Townsend and Devon Bridges; and a sister, Kyla Townsend that adored her bubba. Great Grandmothers, Ramona Gatcomb (Nana) of East Machias, Nancy Albee of East Machias, and Sybil Townsend of Cumberland Foreside, Grandparents, John and Patricia Bridges of Machiasport, Gwendolyn Dunn of East Machias, and George Townsend II of Kennebec. His first love, Sequin Sockabasin, and dear friend Luke Hatch. Along with many, many other extended family and friends, including Robyn Bryant and family of Whiting and Darcie Radley and family of Cutler.
Mike only had 19 years on this Earth, but the foot prints he left are big and will never erode. He had salt in his veins from the day he was born and LOVED anything to do with the water. He was always and truly a Port boy. His eyes and lashes could turn the Devil himself into an Angel, and a smile that could light the darkest room. He is a son that melted your heart, the big bubba a sister could only wish for, and a grandson that makes you proud. Michael did not have idle hands or an idle mind. He was always looking for a friend to hang out with and have a good time. Michael was a hard worker and enjoyed a challenge.
We shall ever be three ladies lost at sea without our Captain....
Michael will be greatly missed and his passing leaves a void that will never be filled. Suicide is not the answer. If the family could say one thing it would be for our young community to rise above this tragedy, and the ones like it recently, and stop with our Son. Hold Mike’s love and smile tight, and know our door is always open.
A memorial service will be held at Helen’s Restaurant in Machias, Maine on April 22nd, 2018 from 4-6pm. Family and friends are asked to bring a picture and memory to share. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Machias.
