Cherryfield – Clover Marie Meserve went home to be with her Lord on October 29, 2018, at eighty-four years old. Clover was born in Machias, Maine, on September 14, 1934 to Alvah and Mabel (McMahon) Morse. She was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Richard A. Meserve, who was the love of her life. She is survived by all three of her children, a daughter Elaine Meserve Cunningham of Essex Junction, VT and her husband James; elder son Richard Meserve, Jr. of Portland, ME and younger son Wayne Meserve of Portland, ME. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Daniel Lynch of Lewiston, ME, Tyler Cunningham of Myrtle Beach, SC, Nicole Pelkey of Troy, ME, and Heather Meserve of Gorham, ME. Clover had nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to being a wife and mother, Clover worked for many years as a secretary in banking. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 8. She served on the Board of Directors of Washington Hancock Community Agency for 9 years, was a member of Narraguagus Women’s Club for 10 years, and volunteered as a Senior Companion for 5 years. More recently she attended meals at the Down East Table of Plenty and volunteered there as well. Clover collected lighthouses and had fond memories of visiting Portland Head Light multiple times with her husband and their children. She was a member of Faith Bible Fellowship in Milbridge, ME, and enjoyed attending services there with her friends and church family. She was an important part of the church body and will be sadly missed, yet at the same time we rejoice that she will know no more tears, no more pain.
A funeral service will be held for Clover on Sunday, November 4th at 3 p.m. at Faith Bible Fellowship in Milbridge with Pastor Ambrose Rolfe officiating. Visiting hours will also be held at the church for one hour prior to the service. All are welcome. Clover requested that anyone desiring to make a memorial contribution in her honor, donate to her church.
