Randy Joe Hatt, 46, passed away unexpectedly on January 09, 2019.  Randy was born January 1, 1973, the son of Ronald and Beth Hatt.  The family returned to live in Machias when Randy was in second grade and he became fast friends with Robert Farnsworth. They had many adventures during their school years. Randy graduated from Machias Memorial High School and the Building Trades Program in 1993. Randy stayed in the Machias area working with several different contractors and on his own doing carpentry. He had multiple other jobs over the years including Hinkley Boat Shop, EBS and was currently working at Maine Wild Blueberry.  He loved the outdoors and was always hunting, fishing and camping. He took great pride in the campsites he would set up.  Photography was another hobby that he did well, but his biggest passion was bicycles.  He had several all decked out for any time of year and even a motorized one he just acquired and had named “Doohickey”.  His dog, Ellie Mae, was the true love of his life and was always by his side.

Randy is survived by his mother, Beth Hatt of Marshfield; sister, Veronica Harriman and her husband Scott of East Machias; niece, Whitney Hatt and her partner Billy Grant of Marshfield; nephew, Ryan Conley of East Machias; great-nephew, Jaxson Grant; grandmother, Virginia P Foss of Machias; uncle James P. Foss of Houlton; aunt Judith Morris of Powder Springs, GA.; and a special longtime friend, Michael Hoyt.  Randy also leaves behind many cousins and their families, but Joyce Fragale was always “Auntie Joyce”.

Randy was pre-deceased by his father, Ronald “Bucky” Hatt; grand-parents, Dorothy and Josiah Hatt; aunt Connie Foss; and a special great-aunt, Vivian Thaxter.

Randy was known by many and was known for living life the way he wanted, always in the moment. He will be greatly missed by all.

A celebration of his life service will be held Sunday, January 27, 2019 at 1:00 pm, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 220 Court Street in Machias. Burial will take place in the spring at Longfellow Cemetery in Machias.
