Gloria Katrina (Hawkins) Millett, born November 15, 1923 in Wesley, Maine to Gladys and Clarence Hawkins, died peacefully at the age of 95 after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her family on June 9, 2019 in Ellsworth, Maine. She attended the East Side Elementary School and graduated from Milbridge High School in 1942.

Gloria enjoyed dancing, country music, fishing, doing crafts, sewing, taking trips with her friends in the Anah Shrine and spending winters in Florida, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. For many years, Gloria could be found behind the counter of Millett’s Market, where she also sold her famous, homemade Italian sandwiches. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She loved shopping, wrapping, decorating, cooking, and preparing for a houseful of family. Her house was always the center of family celebrations. One of the highlights of her later life was being Grand Marshal of the Milbridge Days parade in 2017.

Gloria is survived by her daughter Betty West and husband Wayne of Steuben, sister Jacqueline Leighton of Milbridge, granddaughter Julie Parritt and husband Ronnie of Steuben, granddaughter Nicole Wescott and husband Charles of Clinton, great-grandchildren who she adored Austin Wescott, Amber Wescott, Andrew Parritt and Nina Parritt. She is also survived by nieces Amelia Clow, Gloria Parker, Jean Leighton, and Becky Spires. Gloria was pre-deceased by her parents, brothers Ben Hawkins and Melford Hawkins, husband Bud Millett, nephew Richard Leighton, and dear friend Lewis Berry.

Visiting hours will be held at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home on Main Street, Milbridge on Friday, June 14, 2019 from 4-6PM. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 1:00PM at the same location with Owen Beal officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Milbridge.
