WHITING (HOLMES BAY) – Virginia M. Huntley Look of Whiting (Holmes Bay), Maine, passed away on Tuesday evening, October 15th, 2019, at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford, Maine. Virginia was born in E. Machias, Maine and upon marrying Leon A. Look of Holmes Bay, she moved to that community and together they raised five amazing children between the beautiful woods and the sea shore. She spent countless hours watching her children playing sports, singing and cheerleading. She loved to read, was a talented seamstress and gifted her and her many friends’ children & grandchildren with knitted mittens and baby’s first sweater sets.
She is predeceased by Leon and survived by her five children: Michael, Donna, Kevin, his wife Mary, Stephanie, Allen and his wife, Susan.
Virginia moved to The Lodges, an Assisted Living facility in Sanford, Maine, last Christmas to undergo treatment for dialysis. This allowed her to spend many evenings with her two daughters and playing solitaire, going out for lunch, listening to the many musical acts brought in, going to a Mainers baseball game and other activities at The Lodges. One of her favorites, but she wouldn’t tell you this, was her “job” folding the cloth napkins for the dining room at The Lodges.
Virginia was a member of; the OES (Order of the Eastern Star), Sebosis Chapter #131, Machias Chapter #83; the DAR Hannah Weston Chapter; the Jacksonville Grange and the Huntley National Association. She worked at Marshall Health Care for 13 years. And, in her own words, she also, very patiently, picked out thousands of pounds of crabmeat.
Virginia is also survived by her sister Claire Eddy of Arizona; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jeremy Look and their wives Katie and Crystal respectively, Marietta and Ethan Cox, Jessica Wilkins, Kaitlyn and Courtney Look, Kayla Zaglin and Shelby Heard and many nieces and nephews. She was also proud to say she had six great grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service at the Look Family Cemetery in Holmes Bay on Monday, October 21, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the American Diabetes Association at American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.
