ADDISON – Patricia Blackwood Stevens, a longtime Downeast resident, passed away at the age of 86 on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Down East Community Hospital in Machias.

Patricia was born July 17, 1933 in Jonesport, to Alton and Amanda (Cheverie) Blackwood. She was raised in Jonesport and graduated from Jonesport High School in 1951. In 1953, Patricia married Harry Frederick Stevens, then a U.S. Marine and set-up home at Marine Corp. Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina. For 13 years, she and the children moved around, according to Harry’s duty stations and assignments. After his USMC service, Harry was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army to fly Helicopters, and for the next 7 years Patricia and the children were able to join Harry at all his duty stations. Her very favorite place they lived was Fulda, Germany. After Harry retired from the U.S. Army, they returned home to Jonesport to finally settle down. After moving back to Maine, Patricia became one of the charter members of the Jonesport Ladies “Tuesday Night Club.” Patricia was happiest being a housewife and mother, she took great pride in keeping a nice home for her family. When not tending to her family and keeping home, she enjoyed doing the crossword in the Bangor Daily News every day, she also enjoyed playing Yahtzee, and reading novels. Patricia is remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Harry Stevens, of Addison; sons, Charles Lester Stevens, and his wife Anne. and Harry Stevens Jr., and his wife, Joy, all of Brewer; daughter, Karma Alley, and her husband Dean, of Addison. Grandchildren, Brendon Stevens of Lansdale, Pennsylvania, Kellie McKenney of Brewer, Joshua Stevens of Hermon, Amanda Savage of Hamden, Kristin Alley of Addison, Shane Alley of Machias, and Emily Stevens of Bangor, and 12 great grandchildren.

Patricia was predeceased by her parents Alton and Amanda Blackwood, and brothers, Alfred Alton Blackwood Jr. and William Alvin Blackwood.

A visiting hour is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at the Congregational Church at Sawyer’s Square in Jonesport. A funeral will begin at Noon, in the same location. A private committal will immediately follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Jonesport. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the ARK animal shelter in Cherryfield.
